To say I am obsessed with bags is an understatement. I love bags.. buy them, make them, look at them, plan them. And when I found a kindred spirit in Sara Lawson we became friends right away!
Sara has a real eye for creating a memorable bag. Her first book "Big City Bags" is full of wonderful bags to make AND loads of instructions on how to create that awesome finish. The finish that makes your bag look like you bought it at Nordstrom!
When I interviewed Sara on Oct 21, 2013 (just a few days ago) about her book, she also gave us a load of information about what she puts inside her bags! CLICK HERE to listen to my interview Her book has a whole section on interfacings. I am really going to up my game next time I make a bag!
Read her thoughts HERE on why bags are "IT" for her.
What really attracts me to the bags that Sara designs are the shapes. She has loads of fun ones.. this might be my favorite! It is called the "Fireside Bowl" and I the hook detail makes the bag look so professional.
This summer I was teaching in Sarah's area and stopped into Quilter's Destination. I had a chance to see Sarah's bags as she was just there teaching a few days before! Her attention to detail and fun use of fabric is even better in person. How often do you have a chance to see the models the designer made? I think I might have looked inside each one.. shhh.. don't tell anyone but her stitching is PERFECT!
If you are in the Chicagoland area.. check out Quilter's Destination, maybe Sara will be teaching! http://www.quiltersdestination.com/
I know this tour is about Sara's book of bags... but I had to share her in a statement dress that she made! Isn't this Awesome?? I so love it! We talk about these dresses in the interview. I had to snag this photo from Art Gallery Fabrics (thank you!) because I can't find the one I THOUGHT I took at market.. I'm sure it will show up days after this tour is done!
Sara is giving away a ebook to one of my lucky readers! Leave a comment here telling me
