Well the Honeymoon is over for me and my sashing selecting... it's now time to do it! I am NOT one to take days and days to select fabric. I can't actually remember the last time I've tried so many options and looked at those options for SO MANY Days.
I'm tired of it.
It's time to Fish or Cut Bait
Meet the winners.
They are a wiley pair.. that eluded me for days and days.
Do you want to know why?
Because I'm a skeptic at times.
And I don't take my own advice.
Many of you suggested GREY.
GREY? REALLY .. GREY with Tan/Red/Black?
All my brain saw was a deadly mix of BLAH
So I wrote a few trusted friends .. so said (of course they said this)
JUST TRY IT!
But I don't HAVE a lot of small print grey. The print has to be small since the sashings are only 1" finished.
And most of the grey I have is light
But recently.. on whim (and because it was a great price) I ordered 2 yards of Bella Solid in Etchings Charcoal
Well hello Handsome "Etchings Charcoal Grey"
OH MY... I could barely tell myself that I 'liked it'.. so I let it sit for 2 days
Then I tried red corner stones and didn't care for them... trust me.
I looked in my things and found a Moda goldish/tannish batiks with greys
BINGO!
Here are the three rows that I'll be setting first... click the photo for a larger image.
Next is to try a finished 1 1/4" sashing.. I think I want it a wee bit bigger than 1"

PS .. a few people asked me WHAT a Dear Jane quilt is. It is a quilt made in 1863 by Jane A. Stickle. It is in the Bennington Museum in Shelbourne VT, so you can see it. Brenda Papadakis wrote the book documenting all the blocks. And there is an entire universe of people fascinated enough to make their own versions of the quilt. Here are the book and the EQ version at my Amazon link
