In my last newsletter I put out a call for your quilts you've made with my patterns or fabric! And I have been receiving such a lovely group of quilts, it's Happy mail each time a new photo comes in! I'll share a few of what have been sent recently
Debra in TN has sent me a few photos of her progress on her "Little Blue Bird".. adorable right!
she shared that she used this stencil to mark a bunch of HST and sewed/cut and wa-la.. HST! Debra said "The stencil is made by Sunday Best Quiltworks. You simply sew on either side of the middle line, then cut the squares apart then cut each square on the dashed line in the middle. I'll also send you a picture of the sewing diagram for it. This is the first time I used the stencil and I had all 52 done within an hour (which normally might have taken me 4 hours)!"
And look at her helper "Gracie", all tired out from sewing!! I SO LOVE when you send me photos
Vivian at www.bronxquilter.blogspot.com has been sewing up a storm! Here is the note Vivian sent me, with all the details
Picture 1: My "Valor" quilt that you designed to showcase the fabric line is now done! I started working on it right before July 4th in 2011. I originally saw the pattern in a Spring 2011 Fabric Trends for Quilters (now Quilt Trends) magazine ad and just fell in love and immediately ordered the kit. I had just moved that year and had hoped to display the quilt from my terrace for the 4th. Unfortunately I didn't even finish the top until the end of that month and only quilted it this year. But in the attached picture can you see the quilt proudly hanging this morning for this year's holiday (and maybe next Memorial Day too).
Picture 2: In the same issue of Fabric Trends you designed a lap quilt also called "Tribute". At the time I was relatively new to applique and looking for projects. Figuring that the "Valor" kit would leave enough leftover to help start this project off, I made plans to also make it. But between then and now, I bought another patriotic lap quilt kit and realized I didn't need two. But since I still wanted to make yours, what could I do? I made a Mini version instead! My version of "Tribute" finished a little more than 14x16.
Picture 3: Also in 2011, Carolyn Beam designed "Star Spangled", a table runner using your fabric that appeared in the July/August issue of Quiltmaker magazine. By then I had done a little "stash enhancement" of pretty much all the "Tribute" fabric courtesy of a July 4th holiday sale at Fabric.com that year. So now I had enough to do even more projects and as soon as I saw this I wanted to make it too (o.k., by now I was "Tribute" obsessed)! As you can see in the picture, it's going to be used on my terrace table when I'm out there and weather permits. It's backed by a great Obama 2008 print that I also got in the sale.
So there you have it, my "Tribute" legacy. And there may be more since I've put what I have left into my QOV stash and hope to make the first of those possibly this month! Thanks again for all you do and I love listening to you on APQ radio!
