You know I have a small studio space, which is in my equally small home. So space is at a premium. I realized the other day that my "Last Plan" of having everything in my studio was NOT working. I had to think about WHY it wasn't working.
I thought I'd put most everything I really use in here then.. I'd use it... and did I mention I started this at 9pm last night.. excuse the grainy photos
The reality is that I DID not finish up my mega list of UFOs (Click here to listen to me talk about that on the radio 6/17/13)
I did NOT start the mega list of "Wanna Do" projects
What happened was that I didn't have room for things I AM working.
This basket is full of quilts that need to be quilted... better known as TOPS
I started taking all the stuff out of that basket to make piles.
The plan is to keep 10 to 12 things in the studio I want to work on. Dixie at my quilt group online thinks I only need to keep 5 in the room. She is mega busting UFOs and should know! But I still kept 12.. don't tell Dixie! CLICK HERE to join me at my internet group, we have so much fun!
This is what I'm KEEPING in my room.. there is 3 times this amount that will be relocated. Right now it's in my dining room awaiting sentencing.
Next is the shelves. I need these to house the projects I AM working on. Sew alongs, projects for magazines, books, etc..
This means that I'm moving my books OUT of the room again. As I need to free up space
OH MY ... EMPTY SPACE!
Here I am slowing getting the baskets off the shelves to analyse WHAT THE HECK is in them and decide what to do. I have a lot of new fabrics on that top shelf and more on the ironing board that I took off the rolling rack.
I'm thinking the rolling rack should be replaced with a pretty corner bookcase from IKEA.. right? Good plan?
Isn't finding the right way to store our things an ongoing challenge? What do you do when your space isn't working?
