I have wanted to do new pillow shams for the front porch forever... like forever and a DAY even. Shams that are not quilted are so fast to do. They take only minutes.. well enough minutes to make up about an hour... ok... less than two hours TOPS.
The goal was NEW shams AND bust 2 pieces of fabric I've had forever and a day.
That light blue? OLD Amy Butler.. like OLD... zig zag.. also old. I had maybe 2 yds of the blue and 1.5 yds of the zig zag
Here they are... super duper shams!
A close up shot
I had to use a BUNCH of this BEFORE taking photos... What bird sits on bench that is ON a covered front porch?? Seriously .. he had pooped all over the bench back... bleh!
Here is the flange. I cut the strips 2.5" wide. Then when the pillow was turned inside out, I top stitched in the seam, then did those extra times around to give the edge a nice firm feel!
I did NOT have enough of the blue for the back. So each back got a wide strip of zig zag to complete it! I could have hidden that by putting it as the 'underneath' piece, but I like this look.. like I did it on purpose.. ahem...
This is where the pillow goes! I overlap those back 2 panels about 8" or more.
The inserts are regular bed pillows standard size!

Do you make Pillow Shams? Quilted or un-Quilted?
And finally to announce TWO winners of my Fabric Tassels!
"When and Why you made your first quilt" winner is Sophie who said "I started to quilt when I lived in a small town in Sonoma County, California. Each year, a group of quilters made a community raffle quilt and I wanted to participate. That year the organizer was also a quilt teacher. I took some classes with her and we became friends and quilting buddies."
"WHAT KIND you like to watch" winner is Nancy who left the FIRST comment! She said "I am anxious to see your new line! I like videos that teach and demonstrate things. I am not too worried about how long they are, as I usually watch them while I am sewing, as it keeps me company!"
