You know how I talked about 'thinking I could still quilt for fun'? Last year I started a pile of fabric based on this clothes line print by Sweetwater. I pulled blue fabrics.. and and green fabrics.. and the bikes are in the same line in orange.. then I found...
THAT ZIG ZAG.. oh be still my heart! Do you sometimes congratulate yourself for being SUCH a smart shopper to have purchased a fabric on a 'whim' that is now perfect.
Yep.. I was patting myself on the back for that one!
Then I started to create a quilt that kind of grew and grew and I just knew deep in my heart this one was going to be for my bed.
Did you see the bottle caps? I think they are SO FUN, definately a favorite in the pile!
On a teaching trip I found that batik with the light house and words that was just perfect.
So the time came that it grew into being a top.
At my internet group we fondly call this stage in the life of the quilt as being in 'TopVille'.
Then i sent it to the Pink Paw Spa in Memphis.. where it lived with Cindy for awhile
then i got 'the call'.. or rather.... 'the email'.. that it was coming home!
As soon as it arrived I put the binding on as I just didn't want it to sit in "Bindingville" any longer than it needed to. Do your quilts get stuck there? Waiting on Binding? CLICK HERE to get my fast machine binding tutorial! Your welcome.. wink!
Just LOOK at that awesome 'beachy' fabric I used on the back. It is a lime green base wih the blue and orange flowers. I had massive yardage of it purchased on sale on another trip.. long before this quilt was started.. SEE .. MORE inspirational shopping at Camp Sloanie!
Cindy quilted it with a swirl that includes CRABS!! Aren't they adorable?
And when I washed the quilt it crinkled all up.. love that. Did you listen to the show where Leah Day and I talk about that very thing, crinkly batting? It's on my radio show from March 25, CLICK HERE to listen to it on the player.. the player is after the guest list at that link.. so scroll down the page.
I'll wait for you.. ok.. you ready?
It is April 3, it is crazy cold for April 3.. and windy windy windy... April winds???
So I could not get a full shot, but did find a nice spot in the garden with a Daffodil to keep me company! Click the photo for a larger image of it
The big question is
WHAT SHOULD I NAME THIS QUILT?
I can't wait to hear your ideas!
ps.. tomorrow is Show and Tell Thursday!!! But the post will be up later in the day, after lunch. Ok? So have a link to your latest quilt in flickr or your blog ready to share.
