I'm dreaming of warm weather... those three weeks in Texas and Arizona really spoiled me! What does warm weather mean? Farmer's markets, gardens and fresh vegetables... I can't wait! April is the time to make Block 5 of my "Red Apple Lane" quilt... I have some close ups to share.. and some ideas.. let's get to it!
This is a long block down the right side of the quilt. If you were to make it by itself it would be a beautiful wall hanging or turn the applique for a table runner!
The Lettuce in this block was so fun to design because I got to play with shading of farics. Here i used 3 different green fabrics to great the leaves.
I am DYING to put a row of radishes on a tea towel.. what do you think? Wouldn't that be cute? These are straight stitched intead of blanket stitched. I mixed both techniques in this quilt.
Fresh tomatoes are just the best thing in the WORLD! Am I right? this year I really must grow some.. on my deck. I quilted the snail shell with a swirl.. and his eye's are french knots!
here is the whole quilt, incase you forgot.. wink!
and the pattern for just this block so you can see how that looks
