Do you hold the Key to my heart?
I bet you do!!! It's LOVE month.. I think this is my second favorite month of the year. It's the month for Love and Flowers and all things sweet and romantic. What's not to like about that!!!
Many years ago I took a workshop where part of the workshop was a critique of your work. The instructor looked over everyone's work... gave her thoughts on what that person needed to do to take their work to the 'next level'. (uh yeah... it was that kind of SERIOUS workshop)
I must have had a lot of hearts in my work (who knew!) and she felt that in order for me to be taken seriously I should have fewer frilly hearts
... mmmm... well lucky for me I don't take things 'serious' and I still love hearts!
This Flutter Heart is in my Quilt the Season's -book two... all pieced for you piecers in the crowd. Do you see how I set a square in a square inside each? You could write a love note there, I think that would be so sweet!

My "Lady slippers" are in that book too. I SO love this quilt.. precious eh? This quilt started with the heart shaped handle..
And ended with a lot of buttons
Stack the buttons for a textured look.
"Wild Rose" is one of my most popular wall hanging. No hearts, but speaks so sweetly of love and roses. And it has little bees too!
The runner that goes with it!
And my FREE pattern for you.. I don't have it on the free pattern page yet... it's on my list to do. So click HERE to my blog post where you can download it.
Do you have a quilt with Hearts on it? I'd love to see it!

In a perfect world.. which means in my head... I have designed a heart project for every day of February. Instead I might just LOOK at hearts each day and pin them to my pinterest board!

I have that book. And I love lady slippers. I have to take a picture of my hearts with wings runners. Did not drag them out yet this year.

My favorite one on this page is the "Lady Slippers" quilt. I can't get "A Secret Garden" out of my mind though. I keep going over to the shop and putting it in my basket and then slapping myself and saying no to myself because I have so many UFOs going on now without starting something else. But I want to make that quilt SO FREAKING BAD!!! Do you ever find yourself in this state of mind?

Listen to your own voice! Hey, if you like hearts, then hearts it is!!! I love your quilts, Pat. The Lady Slippers are gorgeous, especially the buttons!

My daughter and I really like hearts on things too! She uses them in a lot of her artwork. I need to make her a special heart quilt for Christmas next year. I don't think you can ever have too many hearts!!

I have to laugh when I think about all the times that "experts" tell students that to be better they need to conform to they style that is currently popular-- aka the experts style. Ha, it is the creative changes that make the next level of quilting or any other art form. I personally love hearts and romance but not everything I do is that way. So glad that we don't buy into that stuff anymore!!

Pretty heart quilts Pat! Love the last one with the words on it - so cute with you and your husband's initials on it.... ahhh love!
Made a heart quilt at quilt camp where I first learned to do applique. We made one heart each with a different style of applique. Challenging for a beginner, but they all looked nice at the end. My Aunt has it now, so I'm sorry I don't have a picture to share.

Next level? too many hearts??? I had the horror once of a teacher reading my paper in class (but not telling my name) and critiquing.... she tells the class this paper should have hearts and flowers drawn all over it.... LOL!! I was like, soooo? It pertained to what the assignment was -
Can you have or spread too much love??
I really like the Lady Slippers quilt!

so glad that you stuck with the hearts -- these are great. I find that in quilting as in life if you take yourself to seriously then you're bound to miss out on the fun, and one of my favorite instructors always says if your not having fun then you need to take a break from what your doing because quilting is intended to be theraputic and fun.
