You have heard me grumble about my ironing board the the cover... over .. and over.. and over again.
When I leave up my board you can see it from my front door, from my kitchen, from my desk, from my DECK even! And the blue stripe is darn ugly
So the other day I just put a piece of fabric over it.
So my question is...
Is THIS legal?
Sew On.. Sew On!! As you read this I'm on my way home from my fabulous trip to Texas! I go back next month to do it again!

Looks a lot like mine, but fancier. I have 2 pieces of unbleached muslin, the currently filthy one and the recently laundered replacement, that I spread over my disgusting ironing board cover. we can go to jail together, girlfriend.

Hahaha! Who really cares if it's legal? It's your ironing board, Pat, and if you like that red paisley (I sure do) more than the blue stripe, there you have it! I thought you would get a chuckle when I tell you that the cover for the ironing board in my club's laundry room is a babe in a bikini....do you think they're trying to attract men to the ironing board???

Legal it is, but you might want to check out my post about a Christmas gift from my quiltin buddy...

It just might give you another idea for that cover. LOL!!

Not only is it legal, it is brilliant. You solved your immediate problem with minimal time and effort. If the spirit moves you you can make this into a fitted cover, if not, then c'est la vie!

I would love to see an arial view of your work space! I'm good at organizing work spaces...we could hide the ironing board

It is perfectly legal. Why can't you have a pretty cover on your ironing board. It is after all your ironing board.

It's legal as long as the quilt police don't see it :) I like the fabric, so why not make your board legit while giving her a makeover. I've seen some free ironing board cover patterns online.

Of course it is legal. We cover tables right? Why not the ironing board?

I love your new "cover" but how about putting a "big board" on it and then the new cover. You can also put one of your beautiful quilts over it when you are not working!

It works for me! Now, any time you tire of the 'cover', it is so easy to change! Another plus is you could still use the fabric in a quilt if you needed it for a project. Change it with the month, or season, or whatever strikes your fancy. Make it a decorative statement!

Of course it's legal. Whatever it takes.

Absolutely, it's legal! I may or may not be doing the same thing.

Ha! I updated mine and was so proud of it and I had a little weekend sewing retreat for a few friends and one of my friends (who has one of the fancy irons with a stand you sit it on) kept leaving the iron flat and by the end of the weekend it had ugly burn spots all over it (love her anyway!), I just can't win! I'll get a new cover soon and try it again. Love the fabric and I vote that it is legal!

Legal Schmegal... looks great!

I want to update my ironing board cover, also. I want something that looks cheery and un-ironing board like for the sewing room.

I think it is great, after all you post about your ironing board it made me start thinking about mine. I think I am going to do the same thing, but will make it secure.

I couldnt stand the look of my traveling size one that I take to classes so i took a colorful batik print and made my own cover. It makes me wonder why are ironing covers always made out of light fabrics.
