I am IN A BIND! Remember this quilt from New Year's eve?
This quilt should have been finished AGES ago.... seriously why has it been sitting around with just a little bit left to do? I think the quilt fairies fell down on the job. They did not do their magic ... so I'm forced... pleased to be quiltilng quilting it.
Since this quilt was made with my Arabella fabric, it is not a scrappy quilt. Most of the time this would be just fine. But Arabella is NO MORE.. as in NO MORE HERE or anywhere...
And I did not cut binding for this quilt. If I did.. I can't find it.
My first thought was to use a tonal black for the binding.. EASY OUT Eh? Something very tonal would blend in nicely. This is when I discovered that I seem to have NO BLACK yardage.. NONE.. I have FQs... and the bigger pieces are mostly prints or things I would not use for binding on this quilt (like the black and white gingham you can see).
I did manage to find one black binding to audition, then went into the red bins...
Want to pick the binding for me? Good.. let's get to it!
Option 1 is this ticking of black with red from Moda... Moda long long ago.
But I have enough.. horrah!
This black and reddish checkerboard seems like an interesting option
once again.. I have plenty for binding.
I see some of you inspecting the photos.. I see some of you getting ready to write me to point out that the outer border seems to STILL not be fully quilted.. and maybe I missed that spot? Yes thank you for pointing out that the ENTIRE outer black zig zag and yellow area is STILL NOT QUILTED... is waiting patiently for me to finish.
let's continue....
This red tonal is a little bright, but since it won't be right next to the other reds I'm thinking it's a good option to audition
The last option is my red from my newest fabric line "Eat Your Fruits and Veggies"
Which binding do you like?
Leave me a comment. (don't know how? click here)
But Wait there's more!!.... check back later today and all weekend here at my blog... I'm heading towards the train station as you read this to take a little ride up to New York City to visit my buddy Victoria.. yes THAT Victoria!

My favorites are option 2 and option 3. I really like the fabric in option 4 but think it matches colors in the quilt too much and like the contrast of 3 better than 4. Can't wait to see what you choose!

I fell in like with Option # 1 right away. Plain old straight of grain is wonderful. Also love the fabric #4. Of course the whole quilt says Pat Sloan so go with it, girl. Love your blog and your pins, I follow you!

option 4 as matches the fabric in both the print style and color the best of all options
The ticking option 1 is a definite no.

I love a stripe cut on the bias so my vote is for opt 1!

I like option 4, but I also like the first one, especially if you have enough to cut it on the bias. Have fun with Victoria.

Leaning towards 2 with 4 as second choice. I like the black in 2.

Option2. Frames it nicely. Doesn't compete with or distract From the other fabrics. Just my 2 cents :-)

You will probably find the binding you cut for this after you get this quilt finished.

Option 1 cut on bias or option 4. Colors don't always come through great on the computer.
