As a computer nerd too, I find I am the same way - techie mode or crafty mode.

At quilt shows, I tend to go through the exhibit really quickly and then I walk through slowly - taking pictures to remember special quilts. After that, I'm permitted to buy stuff - lots of stuff!

At home, I decompress by reading or walking. Both help to clear my head so I can come back to my quilting and/or craft projects and play away.

Housekeeping puts me in zombie mode - not helpful at all to the creative process.

thanks for posting your photos of Market--always fun for us "amateurs" :-) so i can't seem to download your podcasts off itunes these days--it's been a couple of weeks--i miss hearing your voice! :-) do you know what's up with that? anything you can fix on your end or is it my computer?

Well, I never have to worry about being in logic mode LOl I'm always in shoppping mode. I go thru look at everything. Make notes either in my head or write it down. I look for new, exciting, something that puts me over the moon. Always have to come home with a book, a pattern, a kit & usually some fabric. But, believe it or not, fabric is not a must. But, have to have something new to look at. I decompress, with an adult beverage & my new book :)

I really understand what you mean about being in "logic" mode not "creative" mode. I think that's important when you are at a big trade show. We go to Fencing shows (you know wood, wrought iron, etc.) So the first time around is business, second time around is for me! I decompress by picking one item to think about, or work on.

My problem is that I go on overload when I see all the beautiful fabrics, patterns, and QUILTS!!! Yes it does take time to digest it all after something so overwhelming. I remember the first time I went to a major Quilt show. Like WOW!!! Vendors, designers, fabric, QUILTS!!, more vendors, and oh did I mention fabric :-) Well you get the picture.

HOw do I decompress? One word QUILTING!!!
