When I visit you to teach I usually drive, or rather Gregg, "The Shipping Dept", does the driving. We love to drive to events as I can bring more things, and we find it relaxing and interesting to travel by car. After all I couldn't see cool rides like these from an airplane!
Along the way I usually spend a bit of time sending photos to my Facebook page and twitter... that way you can follow along!
You'll know how close I'm getting to you .. I love it when people write me on Facebook and say I just drove through their town, maybe when I did that Ice-cream stop!
When we arrive at our event town... I love being able to take a photo and share it!
This was us driving through downtown Warren PA last Friday. This town is really adorable and has quilt shops... well it's not a photo of us, we are behind the pick up!
Friday night I did a presentation for over 150 quilters. This was organized by the Guild in Warren and attended by people far and wide. The Friday night event was set up as a special event and the entire group decided they LOVED quilting on Friday nights!
My classroom was at the local hotel, which was perfect. They included a nice lunch for everyone, goodie bags, and snacks... yum!
I was teaching my Learn to Applique class twice, both classes were filled to the brim with 22 students! Our project is my "Little Blue Bird" and I taught fusible machine applique
You can Buy the pattern here - http://patsloan.biz/littlebluebird.aspx
I love seeing the fabrics people bring... and of course we do get a bit messy!
We are using Heat n Bond lite for our fusible and lots of tracing was going on
We do create a sample first to learn all the ins and outs of the technique. That way you don't have to stitch on your 'real' project until you know what your doing.. wink!
I teach you ALL about thread... and of course share my love of Aurifil thread. Have you signed up for their newsletter yet?
Here we are getting our shapes fused down... on the backside... but we won't say WHO fused to the front of the fabric.. it happens ya know!
People have such super containers. Two of them had these little aprons with pockets that fit into a coffee cup! they told me there is a pattern online..
Does anyone have a link? Put it into the comment area for me.
So let's see some of the fabric combos...Love the yellow and teal here
The red border was the start of this fabric selection.. it's a super print!
This grouping of hand dyes was making an amazing quilt.. we all wanted it!
At the end of the day I'm always happy to be able to sit outside for a bit and enjoy the area I'm visiting. Look at this incredible sky!
Visit my Event page to see where I'll be AND to contract me to come visit YOU!
Have Quilts will travel.. http://patsloan.typepad.com/pat_sloans_events/

My in-laws live in Warren, PA. It is such a pretty area. I will have to plan my next trip there around a guild event so I have something to do while my husband and his family play golf!
