The Fabulous Lorine Mason was getting ready to do a "Rockin Smocking Pillow" project at CHA last month and needed fabric... so we sent her a bunch of my "Eat Your Fruits and Veggies"!!! (in your stores soon!)
Here are the class kits all ready to go
Lorine doing some hands on teaching.
Many of the students were not big into sewing, so she was teaching them a lot of new tricks!

I love, love, love smocking ... it has been years since I've done it (pleaters and other tools are in the sewing room ... somewhere!!!). May just have to clean that place out and discover where they've been resting! LOL

My Mom made hand-smocked pillows many, many years ago and I still have them. She was an amazing seamstress - made all my clothes until I was 13, and even made her own fitted slipcoves with no patterns!
I definitely did not inherit her abilities at the sewing machine to make clothing, but I do make quilts. As she always said, To each his own," which was also her wedding song.
I should try my hand at the smocking to see if I inherited that small skill...
