When I got an email that asked if I'd like to review the first book by authors Katy Jones, Brioni Greenberg, Tacha Brucher and John Q. Adams, I said I'd be delighted! They are the force behind the e-zine Fat Quarterly quilting.
"Shape Workshop for Quilters" has 60 different blocks that can be mixed and matched into amazing quilts. Plus they give you a dozen projects using the block.
I feel this is a 'tool box' book. One you want to add to your library so when you need inspiration you can pull from it.
The book is set up into sections and they are somewhat techinque or theme oriented. I selected the Star section to share with you. All the single blocks are done in the same color family .. which I feel makes it easy to visualize what you'd do with them!
Brioni designed this block "Star within a Star" .. I love the double star
John Adams block "Three in the Breeze" is very clever.
I really want to see what this looks like made into a quilt!
I interviewed John May 22, 2010.. CLICK HERE to listen
Katy's 4 patch inside the star is super... more design possibilities as you can create a chain with them.
I interviewed Katy on my radio show June 11, 2012... CLICK HERE to listen
Tacha created a paper pieced star, which gives you precision with this super block!
John's BIG pillow is super functional and a Huge decorator statement... I am putting it on MY list.
But the real honor I have is to be able to write a review that was printed in their book... see I really DO love this book... and I certainly think your library needs a copy!
The GREAT people at Lark Crafts, are giving away a book per blog. To get in the running leave me a comment by Sat night telling me

This book looks fabulous! Can't wait to see it. I tend to stick with squares and play it safe. I think this would be useful to me. My favorite star is the star within the star. Love the bright colors used too. Thanks for sharing Pat!

I love stars! I'd love to make them all. I'd probably either make the Star in a Star or the 4 Patch Star first. They all look fun and I love that big pillow as well, beautiful! I'd really like to design a quilt myself and I think this book is the tool I need.
Thank you and Lark Crafts for a super giveaway and a chance to win.
