When Melissa Stramel of Lilac Lane contact me about her new book I was excited for her! The book is called "A Year of Making Life Beautiful" with 45 projects to bake, grow, craft, and sew ... all themed to the months. That was the clincher for me, I LOVE to do monthly things!
Melissa choose a spiral bound book and included photos of her children, her home and her life. This is a very personal book full of super ideas and inspirations.
I decided to check out November because it has the best holiday of the year in it.. Thanksgiving.. and my birthday ... sometimes on the same day!
She starts the November chapter with "Being Thankful is at the heart of living beautifully".. I love that!
This chapter has a Thanksgiving 'Day After' soup.. and you KNOW how I love soup
She continues on to share tips for feeding the birds .. look at that sweetie pie of hers!
And I love the idea of making a scrap quilt in November..

My favorite fall memory is the whole Fall after we brought our youngest daughter home from China. Everything was special and exciting and new through her eyes.

Taking my kids to the park and raking a huge, huge pile of leaves to jump into. My little red heads in the gold and brown and red leaves. A perfect picture and a lovely memory.

Since I live in California, we don't have a change of season really. My favorite fall memory was a trip I took with my mother and two friends to travel throughout New England during the 2nd week of Oct. We had a fine time shop hopping (we are all quilters!) and leaf peeping. My mother is now 90 and no longer able to make trips like that, so I hold the memory of that trip very dear.

Camping up north in the woods seeing the pretty color of the leaves in the fall is a great memory along with all the Halloweens with the cute costumes of my kids and now grandkids.

Fall is all about the pumpkins. Pie, muffins, cake...... Now I work on a farm and do field trips every day in October. Preschoolers in a pumpkin patch are great!!

Walks in our woods with the sweetest man alive. Everything is so fresh and crisp. Occasionally we spot some deer, a fox, or just the leaves on the trees and ground. Best walking partner a girl can have.

Pat, I used to have a home daycare for 20 years. One favorite thing I used to do was get everyone dressed up, sometimes my daughter would help. We would drive to a pumpkin patch, let the kids out of the car, and let them pick out their favorite pumpkin. It was so much fun watching them pick out a pumpkin. I'd pay for them, take pictures, and then t hey could take them home. It was always fun. Patty B.

Love all the fall colors of the trees, shrubs etc. Love seeing fields of pumpkins, corn stalks and the growing woodpiles. Then going apple picking. Love October.

My favorite fall memory is of all the Halloweens in the past. It's my favorite time of year. All the pictures of the costumes we have come up with make me laugh, and I've hidden some of them. Thanks for the chance to win!!! This book looks so awesome.

When it is fall here and the leaves are falling my father in law rakes all the leaves in his front yard onto a tarp the little kids all jump in the leaves and ride the tarp to the garden. i have fond memories of all of them being little sliding around on that tarp. Papaw is an awesome man.

My favourite fall memory would have to be the day my grandson was born, near the end of September. Even though I'm usually sad to see the end of summer, I do love the sights and smells of a crisp fall day.

Fall is my favorite time of year so choosing one memory is difficult. My favorites are probably taking the kids to the apple orchard to pick apples and get cider. Or possibly picking pumpkins. Or...

My favorite Fall memory would have to be when I visit my BFF in Ohio. Living in the deep south we do not have the beautiful change of seasons. So when I go to Ohio I love the explosion of color! Who can resist the golds, reds, browns and the crispness of the air.

Fall is my favorite time of year and I love to decorate with fall flowers and pumpkins. I think my favorite memory from fall is taking my kids to the pumpkin patch and taking pictures and lugging their "huge" pumpkins home.
