Time for the BIG Reveal of the backing and binding choices
Let me walk you through my logic, because there really ARE reasons why I do certain things...
Binding Option -
- I TOTALLY love the blue dot, but it's relaly not the right color for the blue fabrics in the front...
- AND I already made 800 miles of stripe fabric binding
- So I'm heavily leaning towards using the stripe and not the blue.
Backing Option -
- I believe Michele may have been the only person who suggested the OH SO LOVER-LY mermaids! She did say her 3 yr old niece would like it...
- So what are my reasons fo the mermaids? They are NOT my favorite from the stack, but... the piece was the right size for the backiing and they are NOT MY FAVORITE.
Have you been to my presentation? Taken my workshops?
My favorite thing to do is use a 'what was I thinking' fabric for the back of my quilts. As I already OWN IT and this uses it up.. brilliant .. BRILLIANT I say .. did I hear you say Brilliant too??
Besides.. WHO but YOU is going to see this hanging on the wall in my hallway? Do you normally flip wall quilts over and look at the back... no wait.. don't tell me if you do!
PS.. don't miss out... enter HERE for doll quilt book and HERE for fabric

ahh... I DO like the mermaids..they represent all the pretty girls of Happiness Key! I do look at the back..can't help myself. stripe binding is perfect

Good decision making and choice! The stripe will be perfect for the binding, too.

Perfect! I agree that a fabric you are not in love with is good for the back...if it at least makes sense with the front and this totally does. Love the stripe binding. I didn't vote but Its perfect with both sides.

You never know how important the backing can be... I entered a quilt in an art show, a juried art show at Austin Peay State University. It was accepted, for the back side, not the front!

Love your choices, the mermaids actually look very happy they got chosen, lol! Hmmmm, I usually don't look at the back of quilts, maybe I need to start!

Yes...after reading your explanation...I will agree...BRILLIANT...but shhh, don't tell, I ALWAYS flip the quilt to see what's on the backside - I'm nosey that way :)

I used Elvis fabric on back of Noah's ark wallhanging that I just gave my husband who is a chuldren's pastor. He loves Elvis. The wallhanging is in his office at church and the backing is our little joke!

I'll flip a wall quilt over, as long as nobody is looking! Don't tell!!!! One of these days, the quilt will fall off the wall as I'm peeking and I'll have some explaining to do! I tend to be nosy, more for seeing how someone did something to better my knowledge! (that's my story and I'm sticking to it). I think the mermaids are cute for the back. I like a print on the back instead of a solid whenever possible.
