It's on my to-do list, I am starting a rail fence, which is the closest I have come to one.

One of the very first quilts I ever made was a Log Cabin (Quilt in a Day pattern). I started it when my son was very little, but did not finish it until he was about 18. It's the only quilt I ever hand quilted.

I am eclectic! I have made three log cabins, one I sold to my MIL, one is the pattern Boston Logs and the third is a log cabin flag with friendship stars in the upper left corner.

My style is traditional and log cabin in in the top 5 of my favorites. I have made a few, but gave them away - none for myself! I think I should rectify this problem and use my stash for one!

I've made a number of log cabin variations and my all-time favorite was a courthouse step version out of homespuns. Quite honestly, I didn't love it at the time because I had to give up so much control (do you realize how many lines there are on those homespuns and plaids!). Anyway, I digress...I had the top done and tucked away (out of sight, out of mind I thought) when a friend (Tom) stopped over and happened to see it when we were looking for something else that was hidden from sight. He said it reminded him of his grandmother for some reason and he just loved it. About a month later, he was diagnosed with end-stage liver cancer and we all knew he didn't have much time to live so I pulled that quilt out and finished it in a hurry. I gave it to Tom and said that I hoped it would help him on his next journey. Tom had that quilt with him from that point on, and when he died it was buried with him.
Whenever I start to stress out about how fabrics and blocks are matching up for a project, I remember Tom's quilt and that really puts things in perspective for me.
As for style..what's that? :-)

I LOVE that court house steps. I remember saving that from the magazine. Did not remember that it was yours though....
I made a small log cabin, but I hope to make a court house steps one day. Soon. Someday. ;)
I like piecing and applique. I enjoy working with wool. And since Blue Underground came to the shop I really want to do some more modern quilts for my girls.

I've made LOTS of log cabin quilts!! They're one of my favorite patterns to make. You can do so many different things with the blocks.

I haven't made a log cabin, but I do LOVE that courthouse steps of yours -- it's beautiful! Off to read...

I like to piece and I'm a traditional quilter, but that's not to say I don't like to dabble in bright colors once in awhile or whip up a modern design when appropriate! I enjoy incorporating a little applique and embroidery into my blocks, too. This allows me to have something going at the machine and something in my handwork basket all the time.

I'm crazy about log cabin quilts!! I've made several large and small, but don't think I have one for myself. I have a UFO in progress of tiny blocks, and fabric set aside for a black and tan one. Hope I get them done in this lifetime!!
