I also recorded songs from a transistor radio but my tape recorder was a small portable reel to reel, quite a challenge and sometimes quite a mess. LOL

Marie

I loved the show and my fav was Davey. They were in my town and I actually got to get his and Mickey's autographs! One of my all time fav shows! So sad to hear he died and all too "young".

Shelley C

I watched their show too but I was quite young...not even 10 yet, so not really a groupy teenager.

Denise J.

I remember going over at 6:00 on Monday nights to my friend's house because she was the only one that had a color tv. She was in love with Peter, my other friend Micky and of course me with Davy. We figured since Mike was married we wouldn't fall in love with him. Those were the days. As it happens, I have a grouping of Monkey ephemera that my husband recently bought in a lot at auction and will be listing it on eBay.

Linda P

Oh yes.......... those were the days!! He lived in FL not far from our house in Indiantown. We had the accent down and of course, sang JUST like him!! LOL!!
Karen was marrying Batman - I was marrying Mighty Mouse (does anyone remember him?)!! I did move up to Rory Calhoun of the the Texan!! LOL!!!

I had Davy jones posters all over my room and totally fantasized about having him be my boyfriend. Him and bobby Sherman - I guess he was the Justin Bieber of the 70's.

He's taking that last train to Clarksville and I'll meet him at the station:-)

Beth Friend

Hard not to love those goofy boys. Never missed the show. Of course Davy was a big favorite. So sorry to hear of his passing.

Mary Anne Drury

I was a HUGE Monkees fan !!! I remember when I was in 3rd through 5th grade every Monday night at 7:30 I "called " the TV so I could watch the show ...... I think I just about crumpled to the floor and melted when I first heard "Daydream Believer" ....oh the anguish of my Davy Jones crush !!!!

Mary C in WA

Yep, I watched the show and Davy was my Fav too. I was sorry Whitney died, but DAVY is SADDER to me! What a downer for my Leap Year DAY.

Shirley in Canada

I was going to marry Davy in my day. Sorry to hear this today...just too soon.

Colleen

I was a Davie girl but Peter was my second fav. He was goofy cute! We are all dishing up our memories over on facebook!

Nancy

I felt so sad when I heard. I saw him in concert after the band broke up...This was along time ago, but I still remember getting there early to get good up-front seats...

My favorite was Micky Dolenz...

Karen Lieberman

I LOVED that show, we were all in love with Davey!! LOL Of course I was in love with Batman too!
