LeeAnn of NiftyQuilts had this amazing Santa quilt on her blog the other day
My heart started to race... holy cow is this awesome!
And also a flood of childhood Santa memories.. so sweet.
Want to hear my Santa Story?
Back when I was a wee thing and believed with all my heart
that Santa REALLY DID come into my home?
Let me set the stage.. it's Christmas Eve
I've gone to bed with high anticipation of the next morning
and in the middle of the night I must go to the bathroom
This is our upstairs floor plan
In order to get to the bathroom I end up standing at the top of the stairs
the bottom of those stairs is our front door.
I go out and peek down the stairs AND...
THERE IS SANTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Holey MoLey he better not see me!
I crawl on my belly to the bathroom... crawl back
can't sleep
wake up when I think I'm allowed
peek down the stairs...
HE IS STILL THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what will I do? Why is he still there? what TIME IS IT???
I finally have a enough courage to go wake up my parents and tell them the problem.. Dad volunteers to go down
Do you know what I was seeing?
A FULL SIZE Santa poster was put on the back of the door AFTER I went to bed!!!
Seriously this is my most fun Christmas memory
And when I asked LeeAnn about center panel she told me it was an old Daisy Kingdom and she got it at a thrift store.
Well I heart Ebay as I found the same one
and it's here with me waiting to make MY Santa quilt!
ps - listen to my interview with LeeAnn on Oct 17, 2011 it's the one where I had a double technical fail right when the show started..
- no skype..
- quick switched to the phone...
- and no panel so I had no idea if I was on the air, if my guest was, when the break was coming..
- the joys of a live recording!

Oh I love this story! How funny! We were laughing this week, our middle son who was 10...now 22...came downstairs early in the morning with his eyes as big as saucers and he told us how he had heard Santa, and bells, and footsteps on the roof. He was literally shaking he was so excited. This week he said "I don'[t know what or who it was...but I heard sleigh bells..." that's his story and he's still sticking to it! hahahaha
Have a wonderful Christmas!
Blessings,
Debbie

What a great story and quilt! eBay IS the best. My DH collects NY World's Fair train travel items from 1930 and has TONS of stuff. I looked at LeeAnn's quilts and they are WONDERFUL!!! I love the scrappy style. Have a wonderful Christmas.

When I was really little my favorite part of Christmas Eve was listening to the report on the radio of where Santa was. We used to go to my cousins house for the night and we'd all be camped out on the floor in one of the bedrooms listening to the report, we'd be called downstairs after "Santa" had quietly placed all the presents under the tree!
