Sewing Diva Nancy Zieman has taught many of us a few tricks
And she put them ALL and I mean ALL into her new book
From "Applique" {Swoon} to "Zippers" {yes you CAN ZIP} the tips are here
My favorite tip is "G".... G for GATHER (hey.... get on topic here!)
Everyone has been sharing the book during the hop but really
Don't you want to know about NANCY?
I did... find out the inside scoop
What is your most unusual place to have held a workshop or lecture, and how did it go?
Early in my career, I remember presenting lectures in places that would not pass today's OSHA standards. A leaky basement, an empty warehouse, and ice rink come to mind—I kidding-ly called the ice rink "sewing on ice!" The most unusual lecture was not due to the location, but to the circumstances around the lecture. The sponsoring store had an open bar outside the lecture room. Several people got up during the presentation only to return with their favorite libation. One lady in particular, who sat in the front row, made numerous trips to the bar, returning every time with a fancy martini glass filled with a colorful concoction. I must admit, the group thought I was very funnier as the seminar progressed! Truthfully, it was a very distracting experience.
What is your favorite Color
I had to think about this question—there are so many colors that I enjoy. If I had to choose one, it would be chartreuse green—the color of newly sprouted leaves.
If you could study with one person, who would it be and why?
What a great question! Without doubt, I would choose Claude Monet. My two passions are flower gardening and landscape quilting. His skill and sense of color, design, and composition would have been an joy to experience and learn. It would have been fascinating to see what he would have done with the landscape quilting technique!

While watching her on PBS, I would jot down notes and use as reference points. When machine embroidery came into my sewing room, it is her book I continually refer to. She is a "Master Educator"!

Nancy has done so many great shows on PBS, but I really enjoyed the landscape quilting series she did with a friend (sorry I forgot the friend's name). Also enjoyed the series with ombre fabrics and the variety they provide.
The best was her "cooking" spoof - so funny I ordered the DVD to laugh again with her.
Nancy and her family are an inspiration!

I saved the link for the blog hop, but haven't had a chance to go to any of the sites.
I love her show and tape it, so I can watch at my leisure and rewind if there is something I want to see again.

Until PBS locally dropped Nancy Z's show, we faithfully watched it every Tuesday. Have done so for a long time -- she interviewed the author of the Farmer's Wife longgggg before it became the quilt-along rage that it is today. Would love to win her new book. mlwright29(at)hotmail(dot)com alternate email

Love the review, Pat, and chuckled about the woman drinking. Oh, back in the day, it was fun just to get out of the house and I probably would have gone anywhere to see and hear Nancy in person. I watched Sewing With Nancy back when it started and absorbed many of her lessons and tips.

How funny you chose the Gather page to show Pat. I just saw her do this very tip on one recent show in the past month. It was an AWESOME way to gather. That tip alone is worth the cost of this book from the amount of time it will save. I LOVED that when I saw her do it. I already know if I am not lucky enough to win this book that I'll be buying this one.

This would be a good book to add to my library. I've been sewing for years but there is always something new to learn!! I really got a good laugh out of Nancy's story about the group with the open bar. LOL!
