Welcome to week #4 of the Flip Pal Mobile Scanner Blog hop!
I'm the very proud caretaker of several boxes of family photos.
Looking through them has been amazing, there is so much to see.
This is my grand-mother "Na-Na" (and I had to say BOTH syllables very clearly)
The back of the photo said she is 17 years old.
I think she is adorable!
How can I use this photo ... let me see...
What about a needlecase?
Scan your favorite photo in your Flip-Pal scanner
Then collect some wool, fabric, aurifil thread, buttons, maybe a charm or two
Cut out the pieces to frame your photo.
If using wool, put your walking foot on the machine
Sew the frame for the front of your needlecase.
Put your buttons and charms in a little bowl
because it's cute and useful!
(collecting bowls is a great hobby.. wink!)
Sew on the buttons before doing the needle case assembly
I put 3 beads over the charm loop... because it looked cute!
Are you ready to get this done?
I pinked the edges of the wool insert for the case
Do you own Pinking shears? Man these are heavy!
Fill up your case with needles and pins
and enjoy hanging out with YOUR favorite person while you sew!

Oh... did I tell you that neither of my grandmothers' sewed?
They both worked full time jobs,
which was not the 'norm' for their day.

Na-Na was a telephone operator at 'Ma Bell'
I bet she was good, she loved to talk to people!

What a wonderful way to carry around a treasured photo! I would love the Flip-Pal to transfer photos my mom has in her collection of her grandparents - they'd look much better in a quilt than a box!

love your needlecase - this scanner is awesomer than either of the ones I already have.... I have to go look for the pic of my mom with her sisters...taken back in the 40's - what a cute trio they were!
but first I have to shovel snow, clear the car, and go to work!

Oh, I really need to make one of these. I'm always losing my needles in my pin cushions. And I could take it with me when working on my hand projects.

What a great photo, and an even better needle case. It would be fun to 'personalize' some needle cases and give them to my quilty friends.

Thanks for sharing the old photos. I got the e-mail saying I'd won! I'm excited to get it in the mail. I have a few old photos to use that are glued into the albums. Gotta love the technology.

That is just what I want to do with photos of my sis growing up, but I want to put them on the quilt top I've made for her years ago and never finished. Ahhhh! It would be great and quite a surprise for her when I get it done. The pics. would endear it to her and my large windmill blades would be enhanced. I might add some charms and buttons to it also. She is a tailor or was in her day.

First.. I love that photo of Lily Tomlinson. I love her humor and wish I could still see her perform. What a wonderful way to use your grandmother's photo! Every time you use your needle case you'll think of her. Thanks for the tutorial.

What a cute project! And the photo is just adorable. I have a crazy quilt piece I started year ago with a photo of my dad as a little boy, I'll have to find that. LOL

I love the old family pictures too. The needle case is very cute. I made one a few years ago, but it wasn't nearly as jazzy as this one. May have to make another one. Oh, and I love those heart pins! So cute! Where did you find them?

I have to tell you, My grandmother was also a ma bell operator, AND, I used to play dress up in a pair of shiny black, peep toed, ankle strapped platform shoes that I swear were identical to the ones in that picture of the operator.
