London is another great place to buy Turkish Delight.
My first introduction to Turkish Delight was in CS Lewis' Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe. The White Witch seduced Edmund with an unending supply...which would validate the fact that one piece is not enough. They are VERY addicting! I particularly like the ROSE flavor.

Sandra

Oh yes, very delicious! I haven't had one for such a long time. When I see a Turkish store next time, I will sure buy some and then I am thinking of you and I will enjoy it. Sometimes time is passing and things are going forgotten, that is funny, isn't it?
Greetings from Switzerland

Something to look forward to this summer when I visit Istanbul for the first time!

Sandi

Sorry, I can't seem to spell......that should be "throw it in the trash" not "through it in the trash". :-)

Sandi

Oh, yes, I've had real Turkish Delight! And yes, it quite tasty! My husband brought it back from a trip to Turkey and then the next time he went, I went along we bought some more (along with a rug and a few other things-LOL!). I kept the candy box because it's a reminder of the candy and that sweet trip. So, the other day, my husband is taking down the box of pills from the top shelf of the cupboard and my empty box falls out and he says...."what's with this empty box of Turkish Delight?" And then he goes to through it in the trash and I said "NO! I want it to remind me of the trip." And he just rolled his eyes and put it back on the top shelf of the cupboard. My friend, Joanie, says I am a "sentimental slob" and she is probably right. LOL!

Melissa

I remember those, too. We got them when I was growing up occasionally because when my Dad was in the army in WWII, my mom would send him care packages from her local candy shop which would include these. My Dad would get "mad" at her for spending too much money on it because the shop had doubled the size of her order since he was in service.
"Applettes" by a orchard in Oregon is very much like these and you can sometimes find them at the big box stores.

YUMMY...drool, drool!!!
Now, I can totally relate to the sweet, tempting treats in Narnia! No wonder he went to visit that white witch! :)
Sorry, just had to throw that in, you know that it was my very first thought! LOL :)
Hugs,
Christina

Ah! Turkish Delight!!! When I was a kid, there was a chocolate bar with turkish delight in it...it had the exact texture you're talking about Pat. They were my favourite. come to think of it, I haven't seen those around...they had round 'bumps' on the chocolate bar filled with turkish delight, but they were purplish or pink if I remember right? Send over a sample of the real thing Pat LOL. I'll trade you for a chewy chipit which I'm about to take!
