Q&A on my 'Georgia' Fabric

A few answers to questions in the comments yesterday.. and come back at NOON my time (and what is MY time you ask??? Eastern USA).. and I'll announce the winner of a LITTLE bundle of Georgia!

1. How can MY store order this fabric? Have them contact their P&B rep and ask for Pat Sloan's Georgia Fabric. CLICK HERE to the P&B site
2. When will this fabric be in stores? It will ship to stores sometime in January.
3. Is the 'teal' a Teal or is it aqua?  At least to me it is a real Teal, not aqua at all.
4. What DID I mean by the teal having 'texture'?  What I MEANT is that the DESIGN on the fabric give it a LOOK of texture. It is REGULAR cotton.. but the DESIGN looks LIKE barkcloth to me..and I ADORE barkcloth! I made a quilt in the crooked cabin book out of barkcloth and LOVE it.. BUT that is NOT what is in my fabric line.
5. Will I have Georgia for sale? Yes I will! And I hope LOADS AND LOADS of your quilt shops do too! Forward this email to your local quilt store and have them look at her!
6. Will I set up preorder for FQ bundles? Yes.. but not until I get back from Houston .. remind me someone!
7. Who is this line named after? I'd love to say there was a 'Georgia' in my family, but alas I could find none on the family tree. I just love this name and felt it fit the fabric! So I believe my family SHOULD have had a Georgia!  Does yours?

Oh.. the photo there? My living room...it's how I work when I'm on an unmovable deadline!

Ok.... I'm cramming to get ready for the trade show by making some QUILTS!!! Woot wooot!!

And what are these quilts made out of you might be asking yourself?  (you SHOULD be asking this.. go ahead.. there.. good!) 

My NEW Georgia Fabric is what I'm playing with!!

The fabric came in BIG 5 yd CHUNKS and they are currently spread all over my living room in various states of being folded .... mmmm... errrr... actually at this point most of it is NOT folded!  My sofa is just covered with yardage I've thrown there.

So... all this is to explain that I do not have a pretty picture of bolts... but I do have a little some thing else.

And this my friends are the blocks in progress.  I'm SO IN LOVE with the texture on this teal.

It's like bark cloth... so yummy!

So leave me a message.. and tomorrow I'll pick a random winner who will get that strip of fabric.. and some other bits mailed to them... go on.. you KNOW you want to see it in person!

Cake Wrecks

ohhhhh my! This site is soooooooooooo funny!! (yes... I did use 2  elongated words.. you should hear me SAY them!)

The banner says it all, when professional cakes go Horribly wrong. I used to decorate cakes and I think that the comments they make on the cakes they get is just too funny!

Here is a MILD example of a REAL cake someone sent in... yep... ALL the instructions written RIGHT ON the cake!  Guess that bakery needs a FORM so they know what style of writing!

Another trip down memory lane...

Yesterday we had hoped for a 'way cool' afternoon at the Oktoberfest held at the farily new National Harbor... but the weather gods decided it was a GREAT day for 'liquid sunshine'.  An Oktoberfest is just NOT the same when you are soaking wet.. so no good photos were taken.... next time!

Later I was emailing Roberta who told me she had gone to a local festival in her town and had the BEST fried bread. WELL.. that started a memory stream for me... Fried Bread, Farmer's Market, SOULARD's Farmer's market in St. Louis Mo!

I used to work at Anhueser Bush offices just outside downtown St. Louis... in the city... the heart of of a town.  The brewery offices were near a lot of neighborhoods that were being renovated, and we were VERY close to the Soulard Neighborhood. It was the place to go for lunch. And the Farmer's Market was a favorite spot!

I was trying to remember it.. This is pretty much what I remember as it was a covered market. I read that it's one of the oldest public markets still in existence in the United States. I don't remember it being this crowded during the week. We'd go around 11:30, pick up lunch and come back to the office to eat. THIS Is where the fried bread was to be had, made fresh... oh YUM!! Like big flat less sweet donuts... just heaven! I'm sure there was sugar of some sort involved. I looked for a photo online but didn't find one.... yet.....

Wow that was fun! Has that ever happened to you.. a simple conversation triggers a stream of memories... I seem to have a thing for Farmer's Markets don't I?

Wayyyyy back in time...

oh my... let's take a trip wayyyyyyy back in time... all the way to 1981!!!

This just cracked me up! How about you???? Gregg and I got to thinking about the early technology we used.. like the first home computers we had, the primitive laptop I brought home when I was on call, our first cell phone, and the first internet we had.  I actually had to 'wait' my turn to get a sign in! And what was I signing into? MY GUILD!!! Yes ... we are a very advanced bunch!

So today I have 1/2 a family day... if the sun stays out I'll have photos tomorrow!

But I wanted to show you the REALITY of my working prior to an event.. with 2 deadlines.. one a book and one quilts from my new fabric!

 

Often I have a fairly tidy work area, cuz messes make me insane, but... here in all it's glory is the pile of fabric I was auditioning from.

Really.. how can I tell what is IN this pile? And look.. some parts are trying to get away! This is fabric for a book that I'm winding up... like.. right now or as fast as I can!
