I'm writing this with only 3 hrs of sleep in the last 48..... so if something sounds weird.. just go with it... I'll fix it later.. LOL!
So I just got back this morning on the red-eye from Long Beach CA to my home in Virginia. Now many people do this flight, I'm just not one of them. This may be my 3rd red-eye in my LIFE... so I spent a good part of today keeping my eyes propped open with tooth picks.
Let me give you a QUICK overview of the MOST Glam parts of a trip to a show. I hope I don't bore you, but thought you'd really love to see a bit 'behind' the scenes.
First I arrive in Long Beach late.. about 9pm their time.. which is midnight my time. To get to baggage I go INTO the airport.. then OUTSIDE...then INSIDE.. then OUTSIDE where I arrive at the carousels. I look over and see I am STILL outside and THERE is the airport tower! This photo had to be WAY lightened just so you could see this!
The hotel is circular, which seems cool and IS cool for some things.. like the restaurant at the top of the hotel! This is my view at breakfast each morning. What IS that cone shaped hill I wonder?
The Weather was MORE than amazing. This is the front of the convention center
and across the street. The sky was sparkling blue, the air was mild (except the last day) and very low humidity. No wonder people move here!
I only had ONE complaint ... because as a 'Quilt Diva' I thought I'd get EXCELLENT wifi... but maybe due to the circular building, maybe due to all the beautiful sunshine, maybe due to the fact I'm from the east coast... but for WHATEVER reason I fought for an internet connection day and night while in CA.
This is my 'Office' in my hotel room. It was the only spot where the connection stayed on for 15 minutes at a time. I'll give you a moment to cruise my office.. but be sure to shut the door if you use the little 'white' seat!
I am going to have more photos tomorrow and the next day.. so stay tuned for pics of my friends and their booths!
So to close out this post... when the show ends we get a tad... mmm TIRED... so here I am REPACKING my suitcase to get some great rulers in it (I'll show you those in another post). While I am laboring away over my suitcase my LOVELY co-workers, Karen McTavish and Cheryl Uribe are asking me ALL KINDS of kooky questions.
