I loved the episodes where they would have Belushi and Akroyd doing the cheeseburger skit! "Cheesburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger:

OH...forgot to add one very interesting thing about SNL.....we sometimes attended just the dress rehearsal for the show(which was earlier in the evening on Saturday...I think at 7). They ran that for a full 2 hours. They kind of "tested" in that rehearsal what the audience liked best...then they sat and worked at fever-pitch to cut out what didn't seem to work with the rehearsal audience, so they could come up with the 90 minute show by 11:30. We would rush home after that to watch the actual show to see what they'd eliminated and marvel at how they could do that in such a short time span and still come up with a seamless performance. I don't know if that is still their way of doing the show, but it sure was amazing to watch them do it like that in the late 70's.

Saturday Night Live...with the original cast (Gilda Radner, Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, Jim Henson did their muppet-like characters, whose names I can't recall now, etc.) When DH worked the instructional TV department at Rutgers, Bill Murray would go there to do things as he knew one of the profs there. Because of that (and because we lived just 40 minutes from NYC at that time), we had show passes quite often and made several trips there to be in the audience of the show. What a HOOT...not only was the show fun BUT the antics during commercial breaks were beyond insane! We don't watch the show any longer (mostly because we find ourselves early-morning people now and can't stay up as late at night), but we surely loved it "way back then". (You sure have a knack for bringin up the BEST topics, Pat!!!)
