I've always LOVED color... the more the better! I was curious the other day and asked my yahoo group what color they don't buy or use. It's been fun to hear! Everything from pink to black ... and even blue (which is the color that the largest percentage of people like best!).
In my lecture I tell you a bit about a color study I did years ago, and show you some of the quilts I made. This summer I put that information in the color book I wrote (release date is 2007)... and I've written 2 articles for McCall's Quilting magazine on color, one on using yellow and one on pink.
What I offered my yahoo group is a 'Color Challenge'. This is challenge that can be with fabric, paper or even done with magazine images.
Over the next week I'll post my thoughts on color and help you work through a color study.
But first you must choose your color to feature, and the 'challenge' part is that is must be a color you either never work with, or think you don't care for (notice I said 'think'!)
If you are working in fiber, see if you even OWN any of this color. Same with paper. If you don't own it & don't want to buy any, then start going through magazines and cut out images with this color.
Next post on Monday!
Ps... Hope everyone is participating in Quilt Pink today, I'm at my local quilt shop this morning!
PPS... the quilt went with the color yellow article and can be down loaded from the McCall's website

You guys are just the best to chat with! LOVE reading your comments... finding cookies... wicked witch memories.. even my mom wrote! I think we ALL need a 'sign' to put out so everyone knows if it's a 'good time' or a 'bad time'... LOL!
Remember how I'm always telling you my first 'craft' was a reader's digest Christmas tree? Where you folded each page, then spray painted it and added glitter?
Don't you just LOVE the Wizard of Oz???? I do!!! And I love all things 'Princess'... wands, tiara's, and bling! While teaching in Maine, Donna gave me this tin of the Good Witch and Bad Witch. She emptied it right there and said I HAD to have it to go with my pink wand! This is just THE BEST!
This coffee mug has been lost a VERY long time! I hunted for it about it year ago, with no luck. Then the other day I was getting some stuff out of an olde drawer, and there it was! Mom do you remember this? You bought it for me when we went to the Washington Zoo.
I just HAVE to share these photos. At the Shelburne museum they had a special exhibit of weather vanes in their collection. The house that held the exhibit had the BOLDEST Yellow & Deep Peach walls!! I do believe this yellow is the same as my upstairs hall! WOW do the weathervanes look awesome on a bold color, so much better than they would on white walls. The walls were the same shade of yellow (the bolder one), but lighting was dim in the room where the fish was.
